Hello-it is the end of Thanksgiving weekend- what a perfect time to tell how greatful I am for Dr. Drummond, his family and for Church of Our Savior. My husband and I have been coming to COS for almost 10 years. These have been wonderful, incredible, and enlightening years. We got married at COS, had our 3 children born and raised going to COS- many happy beginnings for us. And best of all, my husband and I became Christians at COS.
My life used to be lonely, hopeless, and very empty- but upon entering the gates of COS, I felt like I had hope. I felt that maybe I actually might fit in somehow. If it wern't for Dr. Drummond laying down his life and following after God and building COS and staying for over 33 years, there would not be the sturdy foundation that there now is. I love Dr. Drummond and I get to worship God in the church he founded in the name of Jesus Christ. Before COS, I was involved with many things such as the New Age movement and basically any direction that seemed that it would fix me. And nothing helped . I did not want to go to church or have any desire to know about God. I have had a rough life and I did not see great improvement until I came to COS. The Bible says that truth sets us free. I heard the truth week after week from Dr. Drummond. Everything that he said was so on target and so straight to the heart to what was going on in my life. I knew it had to be God speaking through him. It makes sense because Dr. Drummond is a prophet. (And some day he will be a prophet to the nations.) It may sound crazy , but it's not. Who can judge God's ways? The Bible says that His ways are higher than our ways- God can do whatever He wants and He can use whomever He chooses.
I love Dr. Drummond's boldness, his sense of humor, his honesty, and his depth. He seeks to please God, not man. From the truth spoken through him and his ministers, I will never be the same. They have blessed me and my family and have never uncovered me in any of the councel given to me. Thank goodness! Otherwise, my life and that of my family's may have been destroyed. I'm so glad that I'm forgiven and that God believes me when I say that I am sorry (ie. repent)- everytime.
Recently, there have been some trials in our church and there has been much spoken about our church and our leaders. I am not surprised because we have an adversary-the devil. The Bible says that he is nothing but a liar, a murder, and a thief. The Bible also says that our adversary tries to wear out the saints, that he speaks pompous words of the Most High. If the devil tried to decieve Jesus and send great persecution His way, why would he have changed? The devil still wants to see as many people go to hell as possible. If you already are a born-again Christian, the devil hates you more because now you've got eternity in Heaven waiting and you are going to tell everybody about Jesus.
Dr. Drummond (and we at COS) believe in the local church. The church is a wonderful community. The Bible says that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. The Bible also says that the church is the pillar and the ground of the truth. The church is made up of its members- the Bible says that we are members in particular and that we are fitly framed together. We find Jesus at church in the truth given. Soooooo... don't be surprised if the stupid devil tries to come against God's messenger(s) and the church. There is a severe spiritual warfare going on. The Bible says that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood , but against principalities, againstpowers, against the rulersof the darkness of this world, and against spiritual hosts of wickedness. ( We may not see all this but neither do we see the wind. Yet, we see the winds effects-especially in a storm... ) The church is the apple of God's eye and God's ministers are in the palm of God's hand. God loves His church more than a groom loves his bride- and God will protect His church.
Recently, I heard a song by Deitrick Haddon. I bought this CD and never heard of any the music previously. Anyhow, in this song it talks about a man reading the newspaper one day about a minister that made a mistake and many left his church. The song says that the minister was the same man that prayed for them when they were lost. Here are some of the words from the song "God Didn't Give Up":
IM SO GLAD GOD DIDNT GIVE UP ON ME. IM SO GLAD GOD ISNT LIKE MAN. HE WONT THROW US AWAY WHEN WE ARE WRONG. HE'LL PICK US UP AND PUT US WHERE WE BELONG. IT'S EASY TO POINT THE FINGER WHEN THE SPOTLIGHT ISNT ON YOU. DONT BE SURPRISED WHEN THE TRUTH COMES OUT ON YOU. SHOW MERCY AND GRACE ON SOMEBODY ELSE. TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF YOUR BROTHER AND CONSIDER YOURSELF...GOD ISNT LIKE MAN.
One of the major things I have learned from being at COS , is that my salvation and forgiveness from Jesus is not based on what I can do or my sinless perfection. For who is sinless or perfect anyway? The Bible says that 1) All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 2)All of our righteousness is as of filthy rags. 3) Even when we will to do good, evil is present with us. Jesus died for us so that we could be forgiven of ALL our sins- past , present, and future. If we would repent (turn to God and agree with Him and His word), and believe that He died on the cross (went to hell and then up to heaven), and RECIEVE (as truly recieving a beautiful and precious gift and making it yours) His Son and the salvation that He offers. Jesus did it all for you and for me. Jesus dying on the cross paved the way for us to be forgiven of the least to the greatest sin for ALL who choose to repent, believe , and recieve the offer of salvation. Jesus is not a respector of persons and His love is unconditional . The Bible says that He loved us so much that He even gave His only begotten Son.
In closing, here are some eyeopening tidbits from some of Dr. Drummond's messages:
"Too many folks practice situation ethics; They only submit to God's truth some of the time."
"Stop being a convenient Christian. The Word of God is the Word of God all the time."
"Yield to God's truth everytime."
"When you make a spiritual decision , the devil will get in your face."
One of my favorite statements Dr. Drummond recently said was, "We live by revelation, not by information."
I base my life on the revelation of God through His Word and His chosen ministers. I love Dr. Drummond and I appreciate the revelation that i have recieved from his messages. I am, by God's grace , getting a little more normal every day- even though we live in a crazy world. I have learned how to pray, about faith, hope, and now about love. I have learned about being a friend, a wife, and mother. The Bible says that every good and perfect gift is from above. I have been given the gift of acceptance in COS. People love me and accept me even though I make mistakes- and that gives me space to get better. My church family is longsuffering. God knew what I was going to need.
Thank you to Dr. Drummond for being who he is in Christ Jesus. His reward will be great in heaven (and on the earth)!
